【摘要】:Establishesabarrierperformanceclassificationsystemforprotectiveapparelanddrapesusedinhealthcarefacilities.Itprovidesmanufacturerswithaconsistentbasisforcreatingdevicelabelingclaimsregardingbarrierefficacyagainstliquid-bornemicroorganisms.Throughlabelingrequirements,thestandardisalsointendedtoassistend-usersinselectingtheappropriateprotectiveapparelanddrapestoinhibitthetransferofmicroorganismsassociatedwithblood,bodyfluids,andotherpotentiallyinfectionsmaterials(OPIM).Thestandardusesindustry-acceptedlaboratorytestmethodstoformthebasisforbarrierclaims.
