【摘要】:Thethermalresistance,R,ofaninsulationisusedtodescribeitsthermalperformance.Thethermalresistanceofaninsulationisrelatedtothedensityandthicknessoftheinsulation.Itisdesirabletoobtaintestdataonthermalresistancesatthicknessesanddensitiesrelatedtotheendusesoftheproduct.Innormaluse,thethicknessoftheseproductsrangefromlessthan100mm(4in.)togreaterthan500mm(20in.).Installeddensitiesdependupontheproducttype,theinstalledthickness,theinstallationequipmentused,theinstallationtechniques,andthegeometryoftheinsulatedspace.Loose-fillinsulationsprovidecoverageinformationusingdensitiesselectedbymanufacturerstorepresenttheproductsettleddensities.Generally,itisnecessarytoknowtheproductthermalperformanceatarepresentativedensity.Somecoveragechartsutilizemultipledensitiestoshowthatgreaterthicknessinstallationsusuallyresultinhigherinstalleddensities.Theuseofmultipledensitiescanbedetectedfromthecoveragechartbycalculatingthedensityforseveraldifferentthermalresistancelevels.(Thedensityforagiventhermalresistancecanbecalculatedfromthecoveragechartbydividingtheminimummassperunitareabytheminimumthickness.)Ifthecalculateddensitiesaresignificantlydifferentatdifferentthermalresistances,themultipledensitystrategyhasbeenused.Whenapplicablespecificationsorcodesdonotspecifythenominalthermalresistanceleveltobeusedforcomparisonpurposes,arecommendedpracticeistousetheRsi(metric)=3.3m2K/W(RIP=19[hft2F/Btu])labeldensityandthicknessforthatmeasurement.Ifthedensityfortestpurposesisnotavailablefromthecoveragechart,atestdensityshallbeestablishedbyuseofapplicablespecificationsandcodesor,ifnoneapply,agreementbetweentherequestingbodyandthetestingorganization.Generally,thinsectionsofthesematerialsarenotuniform.Thus,thetestthicknessmustbegreaterthanorequaltotheproductx2019;srepresentativethicknessiftheresultsaretobeconsistentandtypicalofuse.Note18212;Therepresentativethicknessisspecificforeachproductandisdeterminedbyrunningaseriesoftestsinwhichthedensityisheldconstantbutthethicknessisincreased.Therepresentativethicknessisdefinedhereasthatthicknessabovewhichthereisnomorethana2%changeintheresistivityoftheproduct.Therepresentativethicknessisafunctionofproductblowndensity.Ingeneral,asthedensitydecreases,therepresentativethicknessincreases.Fortunately,mostproductsaredesignedtobeblownoverasmallrangeofdensities.Thislimitedrangeyieldsarangeofrepresentativethicknessesbetween100to200mm(4to8in.)formostproducts.TosimplifytheprocessforthisPractice,therepresentativethicknessfortheC687testsshallbedeterminedatthemidpointoftheblowndensityrange.Oncethisisaccomplished,allthermaltestingonthisproductisconductedatathicknessthatisgreaterorequaltotherepresentativethickness.Forthispractice,theminimumtestthicknessshallbe100mm(4in.)ortherepresentativethickness,whicheverislarger.Ifthetestistorepresentaninstallationatalesserthickness,theinstalledthicknessshallbeused.Becauseofthehighcostofconstructionandoperationoflargetestequipment,itisimpracticaltotestatthehigherthicknessesatwhichproductsareused.Forpurposesofthispractice,itisacceptabletoestimatethethermalresistanceatanythicknessfromthethermalresistivityobtainedfromtestsontheproductattheminimumtestthickn........
